•  Who are the Rocks and what is Westfield High School all about? This video produced by WHS 2021 graduate Jake Richardson will give you a glimpse into Shamrock Nation, our culture here at WHS, and the dedication of our staff who believe “Students First. Period,” Collaboration is Crucial, Rigor for ALL and that a Growth Mindset is imperative - it is what makes this school the special place that it is.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Westfield High School, Home of the Shamrocks!  I am Alicia Denniston, proud principal of this amazing school.  This is my second year in this role.  Before being named principal, I served as WHS Assistant Principal for eight years and was a Spanish and ESL teacher here at WHS.  When I came to WHS in 2007, after spending my first five years in education elsewhere, I knew I was home.  Fun fact:  My birthday is March 17.  I told my interview team back in 2007, that I was born a Shamrock and it was meant to be.  I live here in Westfield with my husband, Matt, who is also an educator and an officer in the National Guard.  We have four children, who attend Westfield schools--Benson (11), Arabella (9), Anneliesa (7), and Alister (5).

WHS continues to receive yearly accolades that remind us this is a wonderful school with a talented group of students and staff.  While we are proud of these achievements, our culture here and the dedication of our staff is what makes this school the special place that it is.  Our chief cornerstone of culture is Students First. Period.  That is the lens through which we make decisions and through which we establish our why.

I hope that you will take a moment to read my Principal’s Blog and find out more about what makes WHS special, our mission, and how we intend to grow and improve this year and into the future.  Watch for updates to the blog throughout the school year.  Also follow my Instagram to see evidence of our WHS life ready mission, cornerstones, and Westfield Way in action!

Monthly Theme Winners

We’d like to congratulate our December Theme Winners!  Westfield High School is excited to focus on monthly themes that are aligned with our Life Ready skills.  In addition, these themes match CORE content as well as national/global awareness months.

Our December theme was service.  People who live a life of service, take initiative to put others’ needs before their own.  They are mindful of the physical, emotional, and relational needs of others.  They build a sense of community, are consistent and reliable, and fulfill their responsibilities.

Congratulations to these students and staff who go above and beyond in regards to this attribute!

WHS Students should NOT come to school if they are sick - regardless of vaccination status. There are a number of illnesses going around (not just Covid). It is very important for ill staff and students to stay home.

Please review the list of Covid symptoms on the district website. If you have any of those symptoms- again - regardless of vaccination status and even if you do not have fever, STAY HOME and contact a healthcare provider.

People who are fully vaccinated still test positive for COVID. The COVID vaccine does not necessarily prevent you from getting COVID, but lessens chances of severe illness. Thank you for your help in limiting the spread of COVID by STAYING HOME when you are ill.  That is vital for keeping in-person learning going strong this school year.
